Case Study – Rose Hills Vietnam Wall & Veterans’ Resource Fair

Challenge:

To celebrate the first Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day in California and strengthen relationships with the Veterans community, Rose Hills decided to host the largest replica of a traveling Vietnam Wall.  Once the Wall was secured, the company realized it needed an event specialist to create a successful 10-day visit.

Strategy:

Corridor Communications developed a strategy that would attract a diverse cross section of the community, build goodwill and strengthen ties with Veterans organizations, clergy, educators, community leaders, government officials, and residents throughout Southern California.  Our team planned and completed five major ceremonies/performances, three days of educational programs for local schools, and produced a documentary film of the Wall’s visit.  In addition, we recruited 500 Veterans to provide an escort for the Wall’s arrival and departure; 600+ community volunteers; ministers representing 10 faith communities, and 20 Veteran docents.

Impact:

The program touched the hearts of tens of thousands of residents and promoted healing among Veterans still suffering from the emotional wounds of war.  In addition, Rose Hills’ executives were invited to be active in several Veterans organizations, and inquiries from Veterans about funeral planning grew significantly.
